I am greatly aware of the proportional increase in chaos (or the potential for chaos), the closer I am in space to other objects, including people. Everything is larger, faster, louder – or generally more demanding up close. I am also reminded that the apparent grandeur one senses with nature is often directly proportional to our sense of vulnerability and powerlessness within it.
